Pro Bono Legal Support for Our Community

We are committed to making high-quality legal services more accessible to individuals and non-profit organizations with genuine financial need.

 

Our pro bono program is designed to extend the firm’s capabilities to those who may not qualify for traditional legal aid but still face barriers to obtaining legal representation. Through this initiative, we aim to support clients whose matters fall within this “gap” in access to justice, where limited resources might otherwise prevent them from receiving meaningful legal assistance.

Financial Criteria

Assistance is prioritized for individuals and non-profit organizations demonstrating financial need, as determined by the firm based on the circumstances of each applicant.

Application Process

Interested parties must submit a brief summary of their legal challenge for an initial conflicts check and eligibility review.

Our internal committee will meticulously review your application and merit of the legal challenge.

3. Engagement

Upon approval, we establish a formal pro bono engagement and begin our legal advocacy.

  • Submitting this application does not create a lawyer-client relationship and does not constitute legal representation by the firm. No legal services will be provided unless and until the firm agrees to accept your matter and a formal retainer or engagement agreement is executed, where applicable.

  • The firm will review your application and aims to respond within three (3) business days. Due to the volume of requests received and limited pro bono resources, the firm cannot guarantee that assistance will be provided. Acceptance of any matter is based on an assessment of financial need and the firm’s capacity to take on the matter, including its ability to meet relevant timelines.

  • If your matter involves an upcoming court appearance, filing deadline, limitation period, hearing, or any other urgent date, please be aware that the firm may not be able to review or accept your matter in time to address such deadlines. You remain solely responsible for protecting your legal rights and meeting all applicable deadlines unless and until the firm confirms in writing that it has agreed to represent you.

  • Please note that our firm does not accept matters that are eligible for Legal Aid Ontario (LAO), and applicants are encouraged to first explore eligibility through LAO before applying for pro bono assistance.
